U.S. President Donald
Trump arrived in the Philippines for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings.
The Ninoy Aquino
International Airport said Trump arrived at 5:45 p.m. on board Air Force 1,
which landed on the Balagbag runway near NAIA Terminal 3.
As soon as he landed,
Trump tweeted, "Just landed in the Philippines after a great day of
meetings and events in Hanoi, Vietnam!"
Trump and Philippine
President Rodrigo Duterte met for the first time a day earlier on Saturday,
November 11 at the APEC Summit. According to Malacañang, Trump told
Duterte, "See you tomorrow," likely referring to his visit to Manila.
The two are set to
engage in bilateral talks during Trump's visit, their first since they both
were elected to their countries' top posts.
Trump and Duterte had
spoken twice over the phone in the past.
