Many Filipinos believe that Rappler didn’t write actual news
but most of their so-called “News” are opinionated from the writers and from
the owner of Rappler who had been linked to many powerful and political
oligarchs in the Philippines.
Statement
of Senator Kiko Pangilinan on Facebook:
Today, one
of the loudest voice in the disclosure of truth and has integrity in journalism
— the news portal that — the inalisan of the sec registration, that is also
equivalent to cancellation their license to cooperate with Country.
This, and
other past events, proved how important for the project to find a way to get
together. During fear, an relentless attack in our institutions, abuse in power
and the absence of any help of its fruits — we’re looking for unity.
Let’s
realize this in the past month, with the kaatasan of the party liberal to be
for all — at the opening recruitment to students, and other major sector, which
are far from frequent action to raise a member from the sector of the Politics.
Our belief
is firm in this action. Tomorrow is our online recruitment portal
http://partidoliberal.ph; if you want to stand with us; if you think that you
need a single and mixed action to maipagtanggol our freedom without giving the
contribution of each other, we’re inviting you to Join us.
The leaders
are determined to speak. In the next day, you can hear us. We wish you to
spread this message. Let’s hang with rappler and other tells the truth. Let us
go for the freedom of liberalism. We offer a way where we can get together and
learn the steps how we miss the challenges in our freedom and democracy. We’re
here.

Pangilinan
On the other hand, one netizen replied to those who defended Rappler.
First of
all, Rappler is not a fair news outlet. It doesn’t publish news or the actual
facts but opinions about news. Like when Pia Ranada called the government
‘onion skinned’. That is an opinion and she is welcome. Now she insists that
she is a journalist? No she isn’t. She is a commentator.
Rappler seem to have found a way to get around this foreign ownership, so that it would look legal and it seemed okay with the previous administration. Well, papano ba yan? Nakalkal.
Rappler is losing if we are to talk about the business side of things. they do not have a many engagements. They could be losing advertisements and sponsorships.
They are asking for donations from the public to be able to
continue with their operations.
From a personal standpoint, their writing is really crappy – very basic and lacking of information and explanation.
