The house of singer-composer Freddie Aguilar in North Fairview, Quezon City was caught by fire on Tuesday night, January 2. An estimated of P20 million in property was destroyed, including some of the his original recordings and awards. But while the incident is still under investigation, his sister Marlene Aguilar believes that it was caused by “Duterte curse.”
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire happened at around 11:06 pm at the music room on the ground floor of the Ka Freddie’s house, and immediately spread through the entire house. His son, Jeriko Aguilar said he first noticed the smoke coming from the ceiling, and alarmed Jovie (Freddie’s wife), who was on the second floor.
Luckily, both of them managed to escape from the burning house with no injuries. This is despite the fact that Jovie is pregnant, and had to jump from the second floor. In an interview, Ka Freddie said that only one guitar was saved, but he is still somehow happy to know that no one was hurt. The 64-year old “Anak” singer was not at home that time.
Meanwhile, Marlene Aguilar is also not happy about the incident. According to her Facebook post on Thursday, she and Freddie may have different beliefs and had some misunderstandings in the past, but she said she still cares for him as a sister. In fact, she said that she has warned him when he supported President Duterte during the election.
“First of all, I pity Freddie. I hope he overcome the challenge. But I hope this will serve as a lesson. During the election campaign, I told him that supporting Duterte will bring ‘malas’ to you, but my warning only fell on your deaf ears. But it’s now yet late, my dear brother. I only wish you now wake up before it will be too late.” Marlene Aguilar wrote.
This screenshot of Marlene Aguilar’s Facebook post is now being shared on Facebook. We checked her Facebook page to confirm if this is legit but we could not find it. Nevertheless, we all know that Freddie Aguilar is a staunch Duterte supporter. In fact, he wrote the song “Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago” just for him.
