At least 3 senators have sought for support to officially mandate the proper medical treatment for persons with bleeding disorders.
Senators Joel Villanueva and Nancy Binay have filed Senate Bill No. 1335 while Sen. JV Ejercito authored Senate Bill No. 1389, enjoined to strengthen the treatment of Bleeding Disorders.
Both bills entitled “Bleeding Disorders Standard of Care Bill," focused on the medical treatment of Hemophilia, Von Willebrand Disease, and other inherited bleeding disorders. Sources revealed that estimated 10,000 Filipinos suffered from Hemophilia, it occurs 1:10,000 and Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) occurs 1 to 2% in population.
