Bureau of Customs (BOC) headed by Commissioner Isidro Lapeña confiscated P2.1 million worth of smuggled clothing or “ukay-ukay” stuffed in a 40-foot container, inside, were the balikbayan boxes originated from Hongkong.
The BOC then conducted a physical examination on the shipment, which yielded 280 bales of used clothing, upon x-rayed the suspicious images of items is different from the declared import items, should be personal effects and household goods.
The consignee identified was Proline Logistics Philippines Inc., hereto violated RA No. 4653, under the broker Salvador Labiano Jr.
