Senator Leila de Lima, has been chosen among Fortune magazine's list of the World's 50 Greatest Leaders, she's 39th in the list.
In a statement, her placed was described as "President Rodrigo Duterte’s hard-line policies against drug dealers are polarizing globally, but in the Philippines they’ve faced little dissent. De Lima, who headed a committee investigating hundreds of extrajudicial killings under Duterte’s leadership, has been a noble exception. Last February she was arrested and jailed for as-yet-untried crimes, but imprisonment hasn’t stopped the firebrand from continuing to speak out publicly," magazine said.
In her quest to be freed from being imprisoned, as the staunched critic of President Duterte, De Lima seems no stopping from opposing and containing the administration from what she thinks is not progressive and sustainable to the growth of her fellowmen.
Fortune Magazine is run or is under the thumb of oligarchs and politicians with vested interests.
