Nanawagan sa publiko si Vice
President Leni Robredo na kontrahin ng lahat ang nakasampang quo warranto
petition laban kay Chief Justice on-leave Maria Lourdes Sereno.
“The quo warranto case
against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, should it succeed, can be the final
blow to the ideal of justice we all depend on… The quo warranto case against
the Chief Justice is not just her fight, it is our fight,” wika ni Robredo.

Sinabi ng Pangalawang
Pangulo na malaking banta ito sa mga institusyon na nagtatanggol sa mga tao.
Dagdag pa niya, kapag nagtagumpay ang quo warranto laban kay Sereno ay posible
na itong magamit na sandata laban sa mga tataliwas sa kagustuhan ng mga nakaupo
sa puwesto.
“Hindi maaaring mananahimik na lamang tayo sa dilim na dulot ng mga pangyayari nitong mga nakaraang buwan. Kailangan natin isantabi ang ating takot at ipaglaban ang ating Hudikatura, dahil ito ay itinatag upang bigyang-proteksyon ang ordinaryong mamamayan, hindi upang maging sandata ng mga nasa kapangyarihan,” sabi ni Sereno sa “Free the Courts!” forum sa University of the Philippines.
Aniya, dapat isantabi ang
takot at tumulong na ipaglaban ang judicial branch ng pamahalaan.

Paliwanag ni Robredo,
itinatag ang hudikatura upang maging proteksyon ng mga nangangailangan at hindi
upang makuha ang sariling interes ng nasa posisyon.
Bilang pangalawang pangulo,
maaasahan daw ng mga tao na gagawin niya ang lahat para maipagtanggol ang
Konstitusyon at manaig ang batas.
