AQUINO : "I did not commit any illegal act. I am innocent."

After the office of the Ombudsman found probable cause against Former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III with regards to his alleged usurpation of powers during the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) Issue, the former President will prove his innocence to answer all the issues thrown towards him.

On Wednesday, the Liberal Party (LP) which was Noynoy's former ruling party said that the former president will prove his innocence, that he did not commit any illegal acts during his term. Aquino will fight and will show in all the courts until the very end of the process. LP said that Aquino will respect the process, as he expects that his reasoning will also be given a due course.

The former Budget Secretary, Florencio Abad is also charged with the same case as Aquino, Ombudsman said. They will be facing charges under Article 239 of the Revised Penal Code or the Usurpation of Legislative Powers. Cases were filed before the Sandiganbayan upon the approval of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales on June 14. It has been said that the case stemmed from the supposed unlawful realignment of government savings by virtue of National Budget Circular (NBC) No. 541 to stimulate the economy during Aquino's regime. Meanwhile, Abad said that he will respect the decision of the Ombudsman and that he would make preparations on the case filed against them. The high tribunal declared unconstitutional about DAP's some other practices in the year 2014 leading them to this case.
