Opposition senators Leila de Lima and Antonio Trillanes IV had filed a motion for reconsideration seeking to take back Maria Lourdes Sereno as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
In the petition it stated, the senators asked the SC to junked the first decision and ensure the rule of law will prevail upon the reinstatement of ousted top magistrate.
De Lima and Trillanes cited a Senate resolution signed by 14 senators initiated by the former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III but the senate failed to adopt before the congress.
Sereno was ousted due to the Quo Warranto filed by SolGen Jose Calida with 8-6 votes by the SC judges in favor to unseat her.
