The Catholic Church has long opposed same-sex marriage in the Philippines, the bastion of Catholicism in Asia, where roughly 80 percent of its 100 million people subscribe to the faith.
The proposed House Bill 6595 or Civil Partnership Act passed by Speaker of the House, Pantaleon Alvarez, specifically provisioning LGBT communities to enjoy marriages of the same sexual orientation but according to the Palace that the bill will probably not passed in the Supreme Court considering the Family Code of the Philippines.
