After HOR Speaker Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo and the economic managers discussed a bill in lowering tariffs on meat and fish imports to reign in commodity prices, the Palace said that the President wants every Filipinos to have affordable access of food.

However, Spokesperson Harry Roque in his statement, he did not make a categorized on whether the palace supports the lowering of tariffs, which meat and fish imports revenues are expected to reduce.
Meanwhile, the higher prices of goods were mainly caused due to the rising oil prices in the international market with a weak peso according to the officials while critics blamed the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law which new taxes on different types of fuel and other oil products that prices were rising.
