The Palace sought to fire 10 Municipal Mayors who were "missing in action" during the hype of Typhoon Ompong ravaging their municipalities leaving death tools high and missing people were to be located. The landslide in Itogon, Benguet led the Palace to asks the authorities to investigate right away those mayors who were absent in the times the leadership asks their call.
“It is but right to fire those who did not make themselves visible during the typhoon, because in weather conditions that are caso fortuito, we expect that our local governments will be on top of their constituencies,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Senators Lacson and Drilon asks then to validate the report those "missing in action" mayors, should be dismissed in their current position for abandoning their areas of responsibilities considering the Typhoon Ompong has been long expected to landfall in the expected areas, Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
