Church of England's first female diocesan bishop, Rev Rachel Treweel referred this verse in the Bible, John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that they gave the world their only begotten son." for asking the young people in England to stop addressing God as "He".
"Whether it's that you go to a website and you see pictures of all-white people, or whether you go to a website and see the use of 'he' when we could use God, all of those things are giving subconscious messages to people."
She states that Christian Bible refer to God as a capital He, but there are verses in which God is genderless or implied to be a mother as well.
