KOTA BELUD, Sabah: A mother who allegedly slashed her eight-month-old baby boy in the neck died in Malaysia's Eastern State of Sabah on Thursday afternoon (Oct 18).
This woman who is in her 30s, also cut the throats of her three other children, leaving them critically injured.
The incident happened at a popular diving site on a staff quarters of a resort at
Mantanani Islands, off the north-west coast of Sabah at around 1pm.
The baby died at the scene and he was identified by the local media as Jerry Yohanes and this was confirmed by commissioner Omar Mammah, Sabah police.
The woman's husband ran out to look for help and found police officers who were conducting patrols nearby, after the attack to look for help, according to The New Straits Times report.
A witness said "The man was drenched in blood. He asked for help and said his four children had their throats slashed."
The police officers rushed to where the scene is and what they found was bodies soaked in blood sprawling on the floor.
Again the source said "however, the baby was already dead. The three other children were critically injured, with wounds across their throats."
The two girls and boy were Nurul Harisa, Melati and Jehan, were taken to Kota Belud Hospital
After the mother attempted to commit suicide by slitting her own throat she was as well taken to the hospital.
Said by local reports that the children's mother was suffering from depression.
