About 150 herd of short-finned pilot whales found in Hamelin Bay, Australia. In 135 of which died due to stranding overnight but few had survived.
One of biggest catastrophic en masse killing of sea animals in the history of Australia. Top of it, Dunsborough in 1996 when 320 long-finned pilot whales came ashore. All but 20 survived.
Until now, the Australian government is investigating the mass killing. Theories came along the reason behind is the weather condition but amidst all the real reasons are still unknown.
Short-finned pilot whales inhabit tropical and subtropical waters are naturally seen in herd.
