Basilan, a senior commander in the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and 60 other members were killed by the joint police and 6th Infantry Division legitimate operation during the North Cotabato encounter.
Basilan trained under slain Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, alias Marwan was killed due to resisting arrest by provoking gun fight against arresting team.
