The Department Education (DepEd) will be hiring additional 75, 242 public school teachers for the SY 2018-2019. Around 40,642 new teachers are for kindergarten and elementary while 34,244 new teachers are needed for junior high schools and 356 for senior high schools.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that DepEd has a budget allocation of P553.31 billion for this year fiscal compensation and direct allowances of newly hired teachers.
