The London-based human rights organization, Amnesty International called out President Rodrigo Duterte administration to retract earlier statement that human rights advocates were used as cohorts by the drug lords in PH. The organization believes that the purpose of these accusations is to intimidate human rights defenders.
Top officials Cayetano and Roque released an statement depicting human rights watchdog were financed by the drug dealers to critic the administration over the rigid campaign of anti-illegal drugs.
"The allegations are the latest dangerous attempt by the government to target human rights defenders and delegitimize their work, instead of ensuring accountability for widespread and systematic human rights violations in the war on drugs," Amnesty said.
