PIMENTEL PROMPTS SC ON SERENO's QUO WARRANTO CASE WILL BYPASS SENATE ROLE AS IMPEACHMENT JUDGE

Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III prompted the Supreme Court (SC) might bypass the law of House of Senate's role as judges to an impeachment proceedings, in lieu to the quo warranto petition case filed by the Office of Solicitor General to oust Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

“Ang aking personal na belief dyan, ‘pag sinabi mong (My personal belief on that, is when you say) Senate has the sole power to act as an impeachment court, ano ba purpose (what is the purpose)? When you convict, you remove an impeachable official,” the Senate President elaborated.
Pimentel therefore added, that incase Quo Warranto prevails, he thinks that Sereno will file a motion for reconsideration to transfer the judiciary power to the senate since it was the only sole body has the authority to remove a Chief Justice.
