The humans rights groups Amnesty International Philippines with Ignite Awards in individual category and DAKILA, a Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism, Inc. honors Senator Leila De Lima as Most Distinguish Human Rights Defender in the Philippines.
Amnesty International explained that the recognition given to De Lima is through her efforts as human rights defenders (HMDs) mentioned to her influences in changing the lives of people through policy advocacy, mobilization, and activism.
“We live in very challenging circumstances for justice and human rights, with battles over natural resources, rising inequality, increasing movement of people within and across borders, ongoing crises and conflicts, and unlawful actions by states against its citizens," said board chairperson Ritz Lee Santos.
