AN ODD MISENCOUNTER BETWEEN ARMY AND POLICE, KILLED 6 POLICEMEN AND WOUNDED OTHERS

The supposed combat training of Policemen conducted at Barangay San Roque in Sta. Rita, Samar had resulted to 6 casualties and wounded others as misencounter took place with soldiers.

Chief Supt. Mariel Magaway, Leyte region police director, confirmed the incident, one identified was a rank officer. The dead and wounded policemen belonged to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8.

An initial police report said an Army lieutenant and 16 enlisted personnel from the 87th Infantry Battalion opened fire at the policemen.
