Senator Leila de Lima has filed a motion at the Supreme Court to seeking an approval to participate in the hearing questioning Duterte administration unilateral withdrawal from the Rome Statute, or the country’s membership in the International Criminal Court. The petition was filed by the minority bloc of the senate composed of Liberal Party senators.
In her four page, De Lima as lead counsel of the minority senators cited incidents where lawmakers were taken nod to participate in the oral arguments.
With senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Bam Aquino, Franklin Drilon, Antonio Trillanes IV and Risa Hontiveros all asked the high court to declare as ineffective the Philippine government’s withdrawal from the Rome Statute.
