Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has slowed down her statement against President Rodrigo Duterte and apologized on her earlier remarks over "the country needs strongmen". She added that she had no intention to discredit Duterte as one of the rising leaders voted to be one of the "strongmen" recognized internationally along with Putin, Erdogan and Orban.
Morales admitted that she was hurt whenever Duterte slammed her and accused her office for irregularities for alleged corruption and cover-up.
“If you are stoic about it … you’re insane. So, of course, I was hurt,” she said.
