Vice-President Leni Robredo led the Independence Day celebration at the Luneta Park. Amid downpour she remarked that the freedom of Filipinos today is facing different threats of poverty, injustices and price hikes, violation of human rights and crisis in sovereign rights.
But Robredo is still positive and urged the Filipinos to fight back oppression and invasion. Amid the news spreading of the latest aggressive act of Chinese fishermen robbing the bounty of Filipino fishermen along the contested area in the WPS.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque downplayed the incident and said noodles and cigarettes were given in exchange of their catch.
