Senator Risa Hontiveros has expressed her concern over the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are undocumented in Malaysia. She raises her concern when the Malaysian authorities launched "Ops Mega 3.0" to crack down illegal workers through raids and detention if proven.
Hontiveros said in a statement, “We should never dehumanize workers. Because I am sure that if the law permitted more flexible means of entering work legally, they wouldn’t have to resort to undocumented living as a means of protecting themselves.”
She added that the government shall create a stiff compliance and requirements for Filipinos sending overseas to work. The exploitation and trafficking is apparent since authorities and entities were not coordinated with processing, licencing and monitoring.
