Senator Leila de Lima has warned the public that
President Rodrigo Duterte has a "malevolent" plan to oust Vice President Leni Robredo and put in succession, former Senator Bongbong Marcos. The detained senator said that the removal plan is wicked and unconstitutional.
Duterte has been repeatedly expressed his intention to resign and is considering Bongbong Marcos, Chiz Escudero or through Junta to take over his position. A position rather De Lima said that it will put Robredo seat at risk, after calling the VP incompetent in the higher position.
“With the federal charter change campaign dead on the water, and a military junta having no avid takers from the AFP [Armed Forces of the Philippines], this means that the only viable option remaining is to make sure that Marcos is in position to succeed as VP when Duterte decides to step down,” De Lima said.
