President Rodrigo Duterte's political party will only field
seven candidates for its senatorial slate in the 2019 midterm elections.
On Thursday, October 18, PDP-Laban President Senator Koko Pimentel, who
seeks to win one of the 12 vacant Senate seats gave the names of the party's
senatorial line-up.

He said Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Bureau of Corrections Chief Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino, Makati 1st District Rep. Monsour del Rosario, and Maguindanao 2nd District Rep. Dong Mangudadatu will run for Senate in the May 2019 polls under PDP-Laban.
Pimentel previously said Go was not interested to run in the
Senate. Pres. Duterte, who is the PDP-Laban Chairman, has also discouraged Roque from
running, saying that he will instead be offered a different post because he won't
win a Senate seat.
Pimentel added PDP-Laban also plans to endorse at least five
guest candidates from different political parties. He did not name them, but
said Duterte has given his "personal commitment" to support them
during the next polls.
