President Duterte approved the setting of a piece corridor spearheaded by the implementing panels of the government and the Morro Islamic Liberation front to rescue the hasten civilians still trapped in the conflict zone in Marawi City. Duterte approved the creating of piece corridor to insure the safety of the civilians. According to Irene Morada Santiago, Chairperson of the Government's Implementing Panel who was designated by the President to oversee the humanitarian effort said, "the establishment of Peace Corridor was agreed following the meeting with President Duterte members of the joint implementing panels and officials of the MILF during the meeting, the MILF was tasked to cooperate with the government.
