President Rodrigo Duterte was visibly in high spirits when he saw Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe again on Monday, October 30, in Japan.
In his toast remarks during dinner at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Duterte couldn’t help but crack a joke in the presence of Abe and other high-ranking Japanese officials.
“I will skip two pages of my prepared speech and go to the last page because I am hungry,” Duterte said, drawing laughter from the audience.
“I am going to change my writer. He is a book author, not a speechwriter,” he added towards the end of his speech.
Duterte was accompanied to the dinner by his partner, Honeylet Avanceña. Abe was also with his wife, Japanese First Lady Aki Abe.
