The Shroud of Turin is a length of linen cloth bearing the negative image of Jesus Christ kept in the chapel of Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. Some Christians revered this as the burial cloth of Jesus but the recent forensic investigation revealed that this linen might be faked and the blood might also belonged to someone else.
The investigation into the bloodstain pattern conducted by Journal of Forensic Sciences was the first such analysis in time.
The Vatican regards it as an icon, rather than a religious relic—and the church has never weighed in on its authenticity nor officially rejected it.
