President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has signed executive order no. 70 on December 4. The
executive order aims to create a national task force which seeks to combat and
put an end to the communist rebels.
“There is a
need to create a national task force that will provide an efficient mechanism
and structure for the implementation of the whole-of-nation approach to aid in
the realization of the collective aspiration of the Filipino people to attain
inclusive and sustainable peace,” the executive order (EO) states.
Apart from
the newly signed EO, the president has just appointed an adviser on the local
extremist groups concerns.
The
president has appointed retired colonel of the Philippine Army, Yusop Jumlani
to this post. According to the earlier signed document, Jumlani will be
considered as an undersecretary.
Usec Jumlani
was able to facilitate the surrender of moro national liberation Front Chairman Sulaiman Ranain of the Davao revolutionary committee.
